ST. FRANCIS WOOD WOMEN'S LEAGUE

Fostering a sense of community for our neighborhood

From the President

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the St. Francis Wood Women's League (SFWWL), a milestone that offers us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate its rich history. Founded in 1965 by a group of dedicated women, the SFWWL was established to enhance our beautiful parks and cultivate a vibrant sense of community.

As many members of the current board and I are relatively new to St. Francis Wood, we have embarked on a mission to connect with long-standing members, past presidents, Garden Club representatives, andthe Homeowners Association. Through these conversations, we have gained a profound appreciation for the pride, traditions, and successful fundraising strategies that have contributed to the unique character of our neighborhood.

Inspired by this legacy, we are eager to rekindle long standing traditions and reinvigorate the spirit of community through engaging in-person gatherings. We aim to honor the contributions of those who have come before us while infusing the SFWWL with fresh energy and innovative ideas.

Personally, my involvement with the SFWWL has been instrumental in helping me build meaningful connections with neighbors and truly feel at home in St. Francis Wood. The League hosts a variety of social and fundraising events throughout the year, including those that support the maintenance of Terrace Green Park, enhancing our shared experience of living in this exceptional community.

The success of the SFWWL is made possible by the generous support of our dedicated board members, neighbors, and local businesses. We extend our sincere gratitude to our board, underwriters, and the many volunteers who contribute their time and talents. While not everyone may have the capacity to serve on board, there are numerous ways to contribute. We encourage you to participate in ways that are personally meaningful, whether by sharing ideas, assisting at events, or offering your unique expertise.

We would love to hear from you! If you are interested in becoming involved or have fresh ideas for community engagement, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the board (sfwwlboard@sfwwl.com).

Together, we can continue to strengthen the bonds that make St. Francis Wood such a special place to live!

Sincerely,

Cristina Amorim
